PrepLadder congratulates Dr. Namitha Dwarakanath on Clearing the FMGE exam. We wish her all the best for her career and future ahead.
In this exclusive interview with PrepLadder, she shares the plan that worked for her to help you clear your exam like she did.
Hello, please tell us something about yourself.
Hi, I am Namitha Dwarakanath. I graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University in July 2016. I secured 191 marks in FMGE December 2016. This was my first attempt.
What do you think is the correct approach to study for FMGE? Only MCQ's or Theory+MCQ's?
Basics are very important. Preparations depend on each student. But 3-6 months of dedicated sincere preparation should provide adequate possibilities to pass the exam.
Pease list the books you studied for each subject.
I studied PHYBIAN, PROAFS and KV Kamal for short and non clinical subjects.
Vivek Jain for PSM
Raja Mahendran for Surgery
Smart Study Series for Obs/Gyn for quick revision
Mudit Khanna for Medicine
Very importantly, I used PrepLadder questions(MCQs) for practice.
Have you attempted FMGE previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that lead to your success?
How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for FMGE and how much time should be dedicated for it?
Revision is of utmost importance due to overload of information. At least a revision of 3 times is required. One month should be ideally kept for revision.
Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?
Yes, PrepLadder helped a lot. I completed each subject and then used to test my knowledge with PrepLadder MCQs. This helped me recognize my weak areas and improve. The analysis is very helpful.
Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track?
Yes, I did plan my time accordingly to revise as much as possible.
Were you a topper or a mediocre student during graduation?
I did fairly well in my University.
List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.
According to the exam, Internal Medicine must be paid most attention to and also the remaining clinical subjects. More than difficulty, time management and being able to cover maximum course is important.
One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for FMGE.
Not giving enough time for revision could prove to be a big mistake. This exam desperately needs 3-4 rounds of revision.
