CAT 2021: Tips to run the last mile well

Read what makes your heart ask for more

It’s good if you have not stopped reading a few days before the exam. However, forcing yourself to read books or articles that you don’t find interesting is not the right way to go about it. In the last phase of your preparation, you should not impose an arduous last-week plan on yourself; in fact, you should ensure that your choices positively impact your mental health. So, read your favourite novel, go through that Bollywood news section of your favourite newspaper, read the columns you find engaging, and the blogs that are not related to the CAT but make you feel good.

This phase is about learning things without pressuring yourself.

Don’t start any topic from scratch

You probably know it already, but it can get challenging to fight the urge to utilize the last few days by learning what your friends or peers know, but you don’t. Regardless of how strong it is, don’t give in to the urge to start anything absolutely new. Instead, take care of the following points:

  • Go through your notes.
  • Practice 1-2 DILR sets daily.
  • Read a couple of articles on different topics.
  • Practice Odd Man Out and Jumbled Para.
  • Don’t push yourself to practice any section or topic.

Practice, but do it the right way

The CAT 2021 is a few days away, and some aspirants mistake this phase for the ideal time to practice as much as they can. However, it is important to understand that this is not the time for utilizing your energy in taking multiple mock tests and challenging yourself with very difficult series. You should, in fact, rely upon the mock tests that have the same pattern and difficulty level as that of the CAT. Moreover, it would be best if you did not appear for appear for more than a couple of tests a day. Instead, consider making the most of the remaining days by revising your previous mocks.

Say yes to the distractions before CAT 2021!

No, we are not kidding! It is essential to engage in activities that keep your mind off of the CAT. It’s about finding a path between extreme seriousness for the exam and a reckless attitude, the approach that allows you to strike a healthy balance and keep yourself focussed without stressing too much. Let your hobbies and interests come to your rescue. Bake a cake if that makes you feel good, go on the long walk you have been forbidding yourself to take, water the plants in your garden, re-organize your cupboard, make yourself a cup of hot chocolate- do whatever refreshes you, gives you contentment and makes you feel at peace mentally.

The CAT 2021 is important, and the result will determine the course of your future decisions. However, sometimes it’s important to distract yourself a bit before a crucial exam to be completely attentive on the exam day.

Relax

Even if you have been studying for months and have completed everything on your checklist, you will fail to give your best in the absence of mental peace and composure.

A clear mind has the potential to make impossible things happen. On the contrary, anxiety cuts your wings and imprisons your knowledge in a faraway corner of your mind. If you don’t want to step out of the examination hall with the regret of not choosing the correct options despite knowing the answers, you need to relax today and every day before the exam.

  • Have faith in your preparation strategies and your ability to accomplish your targets.
  • Sleep well.
  • Meditate to calm your inner self.
  • Eat home-cooked meals and refrain from agreeing with your taste buds when they crave chilli garlic noodles from your favourite spot.
  • Take it easy and remind yourself that you have what it takes to write your success story.

You are a few days away from owning your dream and beginning a brand new chapter of professional growth. Believe in your ability to finish the race with the percentile that leads you to an IIM.

All the best!
