PrepLadder congratulates Dr. Rubert on clearing FMGE June 2018 exam. We wish him all the very best for his career and future ahead. In this exclusive interview with PrepLadder, he shares his experience and plan that worked best for him to help score well in FMGE. Hello, please tell us something about yourself. Hello, I am Dr. Rubert. I graduated from the Davao Medical School Foundation, Philippines. I took the FMGE exam this June 2018 and cleared it with 217 marks. According to you what is the correct approach to study for FMGE? Only MCQ's or Theory + MCQ's? According to me, the correct approach to study for FMGE is to be thorough with the theory and then to solve all its related MCQs. When should the preparation ideally be started? The preparation must be started 4 to 5 months before the actual exam. Please list the books you studied for each subject. I did not study a particular book for each subject. But I made sure to be thorough with the notes my coaching institution provided me with and solved many MCQs for every topic. Is this your first attempt? If No, what did you do different this year that lead to your success? Yes, this was my first attempt. What's the role of practice and revision while preparing for FMGE and how much time should be dedicated for it? Just remember revision is the key to success. I dedicated last 1 and the half month just for revision. Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how? Without a doubt... yes... Every day after reading a topic I used this app to solve MCQs and it would give me immense knowledge and confidence. I also took up the exams conducted by Dr. Deepak Marwah just before the exam and scored 179 and 193 marks. They were really helpful to boost up my confidence. Did you follow a timetable/study plan to keep your preparation on track? It is very important to have a study plan with short-term goals to be met every day. But actually I personally did not have any timetable but I clung to the study plan of the coaching class that I joined in. Were you a topper or an average student during graduation? I was neither a topper nor an average student. I guess somewhere in between. List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you. Most easy - OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY Most difficult - PHARMACOLOGY One mistake that should be avoided while preparing for FMGE. I have seen a lot of my friends use their full potential during the first few months but got fed up during last month where they are supposed to revise. Never do that. Some tips for our readers preparing for FMGE? Never sit in your house and read one book for each subject. Just join a coaching center and read the notes that they give you. We thank Dr. Rubert for sharing his success story. Keep Following PrepLadder.
