PrepLadder wishes Dr. Pradeep Panday heartiest congratulations for getting what he desired i.e. Rank 16 in DNB CET 2017. We wish him success and a great career ahead. In order to help you achieve the same, PrepLadder interviewed him and asked him about his preparation for the same. Hello, please tell us something about yourself.  My name is Dr. Pradeep Panday. I have completed my MBBS from Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital. My DNB Rank is 16. What do you think is the correct approach to study for DNB? Only MCQ's or Theory + MCQ's? According to me, Theory + MCQ's is the correct approach if one wants to clear this exam with a decent rank. When should the preparation ideally be started? I started my preparation in the beginning of my internship which is thought to be the ideal time for starting with the preparation. Please list the books you studied for each subject. Books I followed for different subjects are:

  • Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pediatrics, Skin, Anesthesia- Arvind Arora
  • Pathology-Devesh Mishra
  • Forensic medicine - Sumit Seth
  • Radiology - Sumer Sethi

  • ENT- Arvind Arora
Have you attempted any PG exam previously? If yes, what were your ranks then and what did you do different this time that lead to your success? Yes, earlier I had taken few exams like: NEET 2017: Rank 9054; AIIMS May 2017: Rank 1609; PGI May 2017: Rank 432. The only thing I changed was, this time I practiced and revised a lot. How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for DNB and how much time should be dedicated for it? As I shared, my key to success was practice and revision thus these 2 factors really played a vital role in getting a befitting rank. One must devote 14 to 15 hours every day. Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how? Yes, I had joined PrepLadder PGMEE test series and it was very useful. Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track? No, I did not use any time table or study plan. Just go on completing subjects within average time. For instance try to complete any lengthy subject within a span of 15 days. Were you a topper or a mediocre student during MBBS? No, I was not a topper. I just used to get distinction in some of the subjects. List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you. Most difficult was Surgery. Easiest was Anesthesia. What was your exam taking strategy in DNB? How many questions did you attempt? There was no hard and fast strategy. Just kept myself calm. I had attempted all the questions except 2-3. Some last tips for our readers preparing for PG? Hard work, Practice and Revision is the key to success. So, work hard and keep practicing. Also, don’t forget to revise what you have prepared. Good Luck!! Stay tuned to PrepLadder for more updates..
