IIT-JEE 2021 Counselling And Seat Allotment Procedure

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has started the registration online from October 16, 2021. The candidates who have qualified for the IIT-JEE 2021 exam can register and fill the choice of colleges and courses as per the schedule.
JoSAA is responsible for the seat allocation process for admissions to undergraduate programmes in 23 IITs, 23 IITS, 31 NITs, and 20 GFTIs (total 97 institutes). The IIT-JEE 2021 counselling and seat allotment registration will be conducted online in seven rounds. It is crucial for candidates who secured a qualified JEE Advanced 2021 rank to participate in the counselling procedure.
The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) will regulate counselling for vacant seats in multiple rounds.

IIT-JEE 2021 Counselling and Seat Allotment Date
The IIT Kharagpur declared the JEE Advanced 2021 result on October 15, 2021. And from October 16, 2021, the online registration procedure for IIT-JEE counselling 2021 has started. Following the schedule for JEE Advanced 2021 counselling:

Important Notice for Physical Verification Process and Date ranges for PwD(Person With Disability) Candidates as per JoSAA 2021
This year the PwD candidates would be given a longer time and choose to select the institute where they would like to report for physical verifications of their PwD status.
Physical Verification Procedure For IITs
- The physical verification process starts from October 16, 2021, and continues through the counselling rounds of JoSAA 2021.
- Candidates are advised to register on JoSAA 2021 portal before they come for physical verification.
- Each JEE Advanced 2021 qualified PwD candidate must complete this process by the end of the counselling round in which they are allocated a seat (if any), failing which the allotted seat shall be cancelled.
- Candidates are required to choose only one date and time for physical verification using the link available on the JoSAA portal.
- The verification will be done as follows:
Interval 1- During the first 10 days of the Choice filling (October 16 – 25 October, 2021).
Interval 2- (During the actual counselling rounds): Each candidate seeking the benefit of the PwD category must complete this process latest by the end of the counselling round in which they are allocated a seat (if any).
Eligibility Criteria for IIT-JEE 2021 Counselling and Seat Allotment
- To be eligible to participate in the JEE Advanced 2021 counselling process, the candidates must meet the conditions and requirements specified by the JoSAA authority.
- Candidates should have secured a qualified rank in JEE Advanced 2021 exam.
- Candidates should have secured a minimum of 75% of aggregate marks in the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories need to have secured 65% marks OR
- Candidates in the category-wise top 20 percentile in their respective 12th standard (or equivalent) board examination will also be eligible for the counselling and seat allotment process.
IIT-JEE 2021 Counselling and Seat Allotment Process
JoSAA registration and choice filling are open online from October 16 to 25, 2021. The candidates can follow the following steps to complete JEE Advanced counselling and seat allotment 2021.
1. JEE Advanced Counselling Registration
Candidates need to use their JEE Main roll number and JEE Advanced password as credentials while registering for JEE Advanced 2021 counselling.
2. Preference filling and locking
After registration, candidates must select the courses and college from the available ones and lock them.
3. Seat Allotment
To make candidates aware of their probable seat allocation as per their choices, the authorities conduct a mock JEE Advanced allotment. Moreover, the authority will allow the seat according to seat availability, merit, preference and category. Candidates need to choose their options from float, freeze, and slide after each allotment.
4. Reporting at Centres
Candidates need to download their allotment letter and pay a seat acceptance fee.
IIT-JEE Rank List 2021
Candidates will be able to access the IIT-JEE 2021 rank list online mode, and the allocation authorities will release the rank list with the result of JEE Advanced 2021. Those candidates will be able to register for counselling who have listed in the JEE Advanced rank list. The candidates will have to enter their JEE Advanced 2021 application number and date of birth to check the rank list.
List of documents for verification for IIT-JEE 2021 Counselling
The candidates have to bring the following original documents and attested photocopies to the reporting centres for verification:
- Photo Identity Card
- Admit card of JEE Advanced 2021
- Two passport size photograph
- Seat Allotment Letter
- Class XII/Equivalent exam mark sheet and passing certificate
- Proof of Date of Birth
- Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
- Category Certificate for OBC/SC/ST/PwD/DS
- Duly filled Medical Examination Report
- For foreign nationals: Attested photocopy of the page in the passport containing name, photo and nationality
Cut Off for IIT-JEE 2021 Counselling
Candidates participating in the IIT-JEE 2021 counselling must also qualify for JEE Advanced counselling cut-off (the specified minimum marks candidates need to obtain to appear in the merit list declared by NTA), making them eligible to participate in the counselling. Check the table below:
