MOHFW invites suggestions for NEET SS pattern

Dec 23, 2017

In 2017, NEET (SS) was conducted broad Specialty-Wise and then a common merit list was prepared for admission to the Super Specialty course for which such Broad Specialties were feeder courses. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI has decided to examine the manner of conduct of NEET (SS) 2018. As we know that Super Specialty course is the highest level of professional excellence in medical field, thus the Ministry has invited a healthy argument or views from all concerned so that they can take an informed decision. This is your golden chance to choose your future. So, make most of it and send your suggestion. You can share your perspective on why you feel one option is better than the other ones. The decision will not be based on number of emails in favor of one option rather it will be made on the basis of best argument in favor of one option. You must not copy paste messages from others, instead write why you feel that one option is better than others. Do not try to only keep your benefit in mind while writing your response, instead try to argue why your choice is fair to everybody across specialties. At present, following 3 options are considered. However, you can suggest some other good option for conduct of NEET (SS) examination.

  1. Broad Specialty wise NEET (SS) – a candidate competes in his/her respective specialty and after moderation between various eligible subjects for the SS courses, a single merit list will be prepared for counseling purposes.
  2. Super Specialty wise NEET (SS) - there will be an exam for every Super Specialty course where the candidates from the eligible Broad Specialty will be eligible to participate. It has been recommended that a candidate may be allowed to opt to appear in a limited number of SS courses and not all courses for which he may be otherwise eligible in order to avoid blocking of seats at the time of counseling. Preparation of result will be done Super Specialty wise without any requirement for scaling/moderation between several subjects.
  3. NEET (SS) on the basis of MBBS – an option could be to conduct exam based on a MBBS level paper of higher order difficulty. This could be a common paper for all candidates who would be allotted SS courses as per their eligibility and score in the exam.
This is your time, think wisely, do participate and share your views and ideas. You can send your views at mepsection-mohfw@gov.in by January, 05, 2018. For more news on MOHFW decision. Keep following PrepLadder.
