Jul 10, 2020

NEET- PG Crunch Time

Time crunch during the NEET-PG preparation and examination have been cited by many aspirants as a great hurdle in the exam. The NEET-PG exam tests one's knowledge of theoretical medicine, the ability to arrive at a clinical diagnosis, and quick decision skills. Your decisive skills are put to test in a fast-paced exam. The NEET-PG preparation phase has many facets to it. So, one has to be ready to: -Attempt 300 questions in a time-crunched exam,  - Face clinical and, image-based questions,  - Be decisive to move from question to question without lingering on one,  - Balance guesswork with negative scoring, and a lot more. All this requires thorough preparation which takes time as well as material and mental preparation. With only six months left for NEET-PG 2021, the following tips can help you stay on track and make every minute count:

Quality Over Quantity

No one can concentrate throughout the whole day. While going through the online classes or reading books, always remember one thing- that the quality of the time is more important than quantity. You might spend a lot of time reading but if you’re not able to recall a thing from that time of reading, then it’s a complete waste of time and energy. When that happens, know that it is time for a break!

Breaks

A break after each quality prep session helps your mind and body rest for a while. Listening to calming music, a stroll through a park, and a quick snack can keep you energized throughout the day. This will help to increase your productivity. However, try to avoid overeating, or indulging in activities that will distract you during your break routine. Balancing Screen Time

It is best to balance screen time browsing with regular book reading sessions. It is always best to attempt mock exams when your mind is fresh. Make sure to reduce your study screen time in your study plan and make room for self- evaluation.

Study Plan

A lot of aspirants experience stress when they think that they do not have enough prep time. The best way to handle it is to: - Set up a study plan, - Focus on high-yield topics, and  - Try out mock exams and question banks.  A study plan will help to keep you on track. You have the liberty of modifying your initial study plan according to your pace after a 2-week study trial. Once, you’ve done that, try to stick to the revised plan.

Power Naps

It would be best to take quick naps after lengthy reading sessions. Those that aren’t able to sleep after reading sessions, should get long hours of good sleep during the night. But, both ways make sure not to miss out on sleep.  Also Read: 5 Tips to overcome anxiety before NEET PG Exam

Pneumonics

The best way to remember topics is to learn creatively and through different senses. While making study notes, create pictures or stories or short forms around a concept. Do whatever it takes to make you learn your topics.

Routine

It's important not to take away time from regular activities like: - Routine grooming of self,  - Exercise walks, and  - Snack breaks.  A shift from the routine and pushing yourself into a 10 to 12 hours study is neither healthy nor wise. As attention span is limited to minutes, it is best to take a 5 to 10-minute break after every hour. Focus on getting back to the preparation phase after the quick break rather than extending the break into hours. We hope these above-mentioned tips would help you make the most of the time in hand.
