Q: What is National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to Super Specialty Courses?

A: NEET-SS is the single window entrance examination which is conducted for the admission to all Super Specialty DM/M.Ch. courses in the country. As per the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Act, 2016 w.e.f. 2017 admission session, except NEET SS, there will be no conductance of any other entrance examination, whether at state or Institution level.

Q: To pursue a super specialty course, is it compulsory to give NEET-SS?

A: Yes! It is necessary to appear in NEET-SS for gaining entry to DM/ M.Ch. Courses w.e.f. 2017 admission session.

Q: Does NEET-SS hold any scope?

A: Yes, NEET-SS has a very wide scope.  In order to get admission into the Super Specialty Courses, NEET SS is a single platform which will determine your eligibility along with Entrance Examination w.e.f. academic session 2017 It includes the following:
  • All DM/MCh Courses in the country including all Private Medical
Colleges/ Institutions/ Universities/Deemed Universities.
  • All DM/MCh courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions
Through NEET-SS, the following Medical Institutions are exempted for admissions to DM/MCh seats.
  • AIIMS, New Delhi
  • NIMHANS, Bengaluru
  • PGIMER, Chandigarh
  • SreeChitraTirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram.
  • JIPMER, Puducherry

Q: What are the eligibility criteria for NEET-SS?

A: For a candidate to be eligible for NEET SS he must possess a recognized post graduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB)/ Provisional Pass Certificate or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university/college.

Q: Who governs NEET-SS 2017?

A: NEET-SS 2017 is governed by National Board of Examinations (NBE).

Q: Last when NEET-SS 2017 was conducted?

A: On 10th and 11th June 2017, NEET-SS 2017 was conducted.
