In this exclusive interview with PrepLadder, he shares his preparation plan that worked best for him to help score well in FMGE.

 

Hello, please tell us something about yourself.

I am Dr. Vikash Vans Bahadur Sinh, I graduated from Kursk State Medical University and have cleared the FMGE exam with a score of 211.

 

What do you think is the correct approach to study for FMGE? Only MCQ’s or Theory+MCQ’s?

See, you cannot clap with one hand; neither can you eat only rice/chapatti. If you do, then it won’t be tasty. Similarly, one cannot rely solely on MCQs. You need a mixture of theory and MCQs. First study the theory then the MCQs as you need both.

 

When should the preparation ideally be started?

As per my experience, you should start your preparation with basic subjects while you are in your 4th year of Med School. If you do this, then it will be easier for you to finish other subjects after graduation.

Have you attempted FMGE previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that lead to your success

No. This was my first attempt, thankfully. 😉

 

How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for FMGE and how much time should be dedicated for it?

Practice makes a man perfect, and revision makes a man successful. So, both practice and revision are a must for passing FMGE. Keep the last one month before the exam, solely for revision.

 

Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?

Of course, a big yes. It was an essential pillar of my FMGE preparation. 80% of my preparation was due to PrepLadder. It helped me to learn the subjects easily and thoroughly. List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.

Easiest: Anatomy, Forensic Medicine

Most Difficult: Surgery, Physiology, Radiology

 

Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track? If yes, how?

Yes, it is important that you make a time table for both the preparation and for the revision. This will help you to analyze your preparation, giving you clarity about how much you have done, how much is left, and how much time you will get for revision. So, whenever you start your preparation, make sure to stick with your time table. It is better to be ahead of your time table as this will make you more relaxed than depressed and give you some time for enjoyment and relaxation.

 

Were you a topper or a mediocre student during graduation?

In my 11th and 12^th, I was the topper, but in my Med school, I was a normal Med student who was happy with passing marks.

 

One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for FMGE

Start as early as possible. Don’t forget to make a time table and stick to it. Don’t make too many gaps in between preparation days of not studying. Don’t forget to relax once in a while. Remember that you can do it, no matter what.

 

Some last tips for our readers preparing for FMGE?

Just be yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others, Push your limits and there is nothing that you cannot achieve.
