In this exclusive interview with PrepLadder, she shares the plan that worked best for her to help you achieve your dream PG seat. Hello, please tell us something about yourself. I am Dr Reshma Varghese.I did my MBBS from Amala institute of Medical Science, Thrissur. My AIIMS PG Rank is 88. What do you think is the correct approach to study for AIIMS PG? Only MCQ's or Theory+ MCQ's? The correct approach is to study Theory and MCQ’s together. Try to learn how to rule out options. When should the preparation ideally be started? It depends on each student. I started my preparation during internship. But, I got good rank only after preparing for 2 years. Please list the books you studied for each subject. I studied mainly class notes, images, MCQs, class test, subject wise tests, grand tests and previous year questions. Have you attempted any PG exam previously? If yes, what were your ranks then and what did you do different this time that lead to your success? Yes, my ranks were not up to my preparations. My current NEET rank is 6605 and November AIIMS rank was 2284.I did not get any subject of my choice due to which I started studying again. I revised my class notes as much as possible and tried to revise all subjects in last 10 days before exam. I also solved AIIMS previous year questions. I got 159 rank in PrepLadder Mock Test which boosted my preparations and also gave me a positive attitude that I can do it. How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for AIIMS PG and how much time should be dedicated for it? Revision is the most important thing in any PG entrance exam .The last 2 months should be dedicated for revision. One should try to revise 19 subjects as much as possible in last 10 days. Also try to make small notes for topics which you forget easily and revise them on last day of exam. Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how? Yes, Prepladder’s mock test boosted up my confidence. It also helped me to get an idea about the marks which can be scored through guesswork by ruling out options. Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track? Yes, I did use a time table and study plan to keep my preparation on track. Were you a topper or a mediocre student during MBBS? I was a mediocre student all through my graduation. List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you. Most difficult -  Anatomy and Microbiology. Easy -OBG. One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for AIIMS PG. Don't forget to solve previous year Questions. Almost 20 questions were direct repeats for this time. What was your exam taking strategy? How many questions did you attempt in AIIMS PG? The strategy which I used is to attempt maximum question by ruling out options and leaving behind only questions which I am totally unaware. I have attempted 185 questions for this time. Some last tips for our readers preparing for PG? Revise, revise,revise....most important. Be positive always. Don’t bother about previous year ranks. It doesn't affect you...Hard work will get paid off...last but not the least do pray. God will show the right path. We thank Dr. Reshma Varghese for sharing her success story. Best Wishes for PG entrance With Love, Team PrepLadder
