PrepLadder congratulates Dr. Raghul Sugumar on clearing FMGE Dec 2018 exam. We wish him all the very best for his career and future ahead.

In this exclusive interview with PrepLadder, he shares his plan that worked best for him to help score well in FMGE. Hello, please tell us something about yourself. Hi. I am Dr. Raghul Sugumar. I did my MBBS from State Medical University. I scored 209 marks in FMGE Dec 2018 examination.

What do you think is the correct approach to study for FMGE? Only MCQ's or Theory+MCQ's?

I prepared by listening to classes, revising the notes given by faculties and by solving Mcq from Fmge solutions.

When should the preparation ideally be started?

I started my preparation in August. Please list the books you studied for each subject. I solved Mcq from Fmge Solutions by Dr. Marwah sir, then sure Success Magic by Dr. Ram Gopal Verma sir.

Have you attempted FMGE previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that lead to your success?

No, this is my first attempt.

How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for FMGE and how much time should be dedicated for it?

Last one month I had time to revise all 19 subjects, every day I spent around 16 hours on the study.

Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?

Frankly speaking, in the last 8-9 days of the exam I lost my hope, I was depressed, at that time I gave Pre-FMGE Mock conducted by Dr. Deepak Marwah sir, in that I got 194 all Rank 7 and that gave me a boost to revise again. So, a very big thanks to PrepLadder and Dr. Marwah sir.

Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track?

I have my own study plan, when I start revising I revise basic subjects first like Physio, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Biochem. For me, Medicine was easy because I prepared these basic subjects very well.

Were you a topper or a mediocre student during graduation?

I am not the topper, I failed once in the 5th year.

List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.

All become easy when we are good at basics. For me, easiest are Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, PSM, Obs& Gynae and I felt difficult in remembering names in Orthopedics, ipc Sections from Fsm, Medicine due to lack of clinical knowledge.

One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for FMGE

Don't loose your concentration while preparing, don't get disappointed by seeing others performance, avoid using social media, take atleast 5-6 hours sleep.

Some last tips for our readers preparing for FMGE?

Noting is impossible, study and understand the material given by faculties revise at least twice- thrice, solve Mcq, from my 6 months of prepration on thing I learned while giving exam was not to change the answer while reviewing.
