Revise

Most aspirants make the mistake of keeping their preparations focused only on reading texts and neet pg notes to cover the entire exam syllabus. A point comes when they realize that they have no time left to revise what they’ve learned.

The problem with this approach is that while trying to gain new knowledge, you are not doing anything to retain it, which subsequently results in forgetting what you’ve learned. To cement your knowledge, you must revise and practice retrieving the information repeatedly.

You can practice the technique of spaced revision to maximize your potential to remember. All you need to do is balance learning and revising.  After learning a new topic, revisit it in a few minutes, then in a few hours, then after a day, and then a few days. Space each revision to give your brain time to ingrain the information thoroughly. The longer you wait before revising, the stronger your recall will be.

Practice MCQs

Practice MCQs

MCQ practice is one of the most crucial components of NEET PG preparation. However, most students make the mistake of not identifying its role in the preparation or simply solving the MCQs for the sake of completing a module. Both are dangerous mistakes that can seriously impact your score and rank. Here's why -

Firstly, when used correctly, MCQs can be a fantastic tool for evaluating your preparations and identifying the strong and weak points.

Secondly, solving MCQs will train your brain to recall what you've learned. So, when D-day arrives, you won't be seeing those questions for the first time, and it will be easier to retrieve the correct answers from memory.

To practice MCQs correctly, follow these instructions:

  • Read the question and options mindfully.
  • Sometimes, you might think you know the answer just by looking at the options. STOP. Don't jump to conclusions; spend some time with the question. You need to ask yourself what you know about the topic. If you are confused about anything - note it down.
  • Don’t just look for correct answers. Also, try to rule out the other options. Again note down anything that makes you second guess your answer.
  • Once you are done with the above steps, mark the answer that you think is correct.

This way, by the end of each practice, you’ll have a list of areas and topics that need revisiting.

Monitor Your Progress

For a fruitful preparation, it's vital to monitor the progress every step of the way, so you know where you stand. To evaluate your preparation and understand how to improve, take SWT (subject-wise tests). This will allow you to assess your strong and weak points to improve constantly.
