Recruitment and Assessment Center (RAC), the recruiting arm for organizations under the Ministry of Defence, is inviting online applications from graduate and post-graduate engineers for recruitment to the posts of Scientist `B’ in 

  • Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO)
  • Department of Science and Technology (DST) 
  • Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA)

All recruits are to be hired in Level-10 (7th CPC) of the Pay Matrix (according to the official notification) in specified disciplines and categories. 

Total emoluments (including HRA and all other allowances) at the time of joining will be approximately Rs. 88,000/- p.m. at the current metro city rate. 

Before we move any further, here is some information about DRDO, ADA, and DST. 

DRDO, India’s premier Defence R&D, and the country’s largest research organization employs bright, qualified, and competent scientists in Group ‘A’ (Gazetted) technical service known as Defence Research & Development Service (DRDS) and offers exciting and challenging career opportunities in a broad spectrum of technologies at its laboratories/establishments (more than 50) located across the country. 

ADA, Bengaluru, is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, entrusted with the design & development of the Light Combat Aircrafts for Defence Services. ADA provides challenging career opportunities and an excellent working environment. The candidates selected against ADA vacancies will be designated as Scientist/Engineer ‘B’ and will not be part of DRDS. 

DST, Govt of India, is primarily entrusted with formulating S&T policies and their implementation; identifying thrust areas of research in different sectors of S&T; technology information, forecasting, and assessment; international collaboration; organizing, coordinating, and promoting S&T activities in the country.

Relaxation in upper age limit (As per Govt rules):

(a) Upto 10 years for PwD category candidates. 

(b) The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for serving Central Civilian Govt. employees working in posts which are in the same line or allied cadres only if a relationship could be established that the service already rendered in a particular post will be useful for the efficient discharge of the duties of the advertised posts.

(c) The upper age limit is relaxable for Ex-servicemen, including Ex SSCOs/ECOs, as per rules in vogue

Academic Qualifications Required

For candidates from Electrical and Communications Engineering (ECE), Mechanical Engineering (MECH), and Computer Science and Information Technology Engineering (CS & IT) backgrounds, here are the academic requirements:

Essential Qualification: At least First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or equivalent. 

In addition, applicants must fulfill one of the following additional requirements: 

1. GATE Qualification: Valid GATE score in the relevant discipline. 

2. Minimum 80% aggregate marks in EQ degree if done from an IIT or NIT. 

For candidates applying from Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering backgrounds, here are the requirements: 

Essential Qualification(EQ):

At least First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or equivalent. 

GATE Qualification: Valid GATE score in the relevant discipline.
